Geosites
Ueumdo photo
Ueumdo was an island(Umseom) in the past, but it has been changed to land after the construction of the Sihwa seawall. The rocks in this geosite consist of the Paleoproterozoic metamorphic rocks (gneiss, schists, and phyllite), a dike swarm of the Jurassic granitic rocks (biotite granite and leucocratic granite), pegmatite, and mafic dike. Various geological structures (fold, fault, joint, dike, vein) and beautiful coastal topographic features (tafoni, residual stack, wetland, mud flat) can also be observed, thus it has a high educational value and geological diversity.
