Geosites
Eoseom Photo
Eoseom is located in Gopori, the southern part of Songsan-myeon. Eoseom, like Ueumdo, was an island in the past, but now it has been changed to land after the construction of the Sihwa seawall, and can be seen on foot. The rocks in this geosite consist of the Mesoproterozoic to Neoproterozoic garnet amphibolite, deformed amphibolite, and sandy schist. Various metamorphic minerals, such as amphibole and garnet, and unique orbicular structure, small-scale crenulation, and S-C fabric can be observed in here, thus it has a high educational value and geological diversity.
